Harrah’s Casino Renovation
Metropolis, IL

PROJECT DATA:

CONSTRUCTION COST: $5.0 Million

Interior Design by Marnell Architecture

SUMMARY:

Harrah’s Casino in Metropolis, Illinois, is a renovation of an existing event center into a new gaming floor and restaurant. This renovation removes the existing walls enclosing the event center and creates an open gaming floor. A new restaurant was added to provide both food and a music lounge for entertainment off the gaming floor. Existing building exits and systems were preserved to minimize construction costs and optimize the construction schedule. The new construction is metal framing and gypsum construction and preserves the existing building envelope. We also improved the building energy efficiency by re-lamping the existing incandescent event center lighting with new LED lamps. The completion of this project allows the existing casino more flexibility in operations as the gaming is shifted from barge to land-based gaming allowing fewer impacts from the adjacent Ohio River. All work was completed in phases to allow the casino to be in continuous operation
