First Presbyterian Church Expansion / Jackson, MS - Our firm provided services for the expansion of the current sanctuary to increase seating capacity from 750 to 1,400. Our team reviewed the concept of building a new sanctuary and investigated three potential sites. We then were commissioned with providing two concepts to enlarge the current sanctuary to expand the facility. The final concept provided for the complete rebuilding of the sanctuary seating area and widening the chancel area to accommodate a large choir loft and thereby enhancing sightlines. 2007 MS Builders and Contractors Merit Award Best of ’08, Judges Award for Design by South Central Construction. This 49008 SF project (Additions 16,825 SF; Renovated 32,183 SF) was completed in 2007 with a construction cost of $9.2 million.
Truevine Baptist Church
Truevine Missionary Baptist Church / Brandon, MS - Development of an overall master plan for the future expansion of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church. The centerpiece of the planned expansion is the new sanctuary, which would accommodate approximately 1,000 individuals. Plans also designated space on-site for a new education building, which would provide new Sunday School rooms to meet the needs of the expanded congregation. The plans called for renovating the existing sanctuary for use as a choir rehearsal room, a fellowship hall or additional education space. New site features included covered walks and porches that would link all of the buildings together. There was also a courtyard and a picnic / playground area in the plans that were defined by the spaces between the various buildings on the site.
St. Joseph Catholic Church
St. Joseph Catholic Church / Madison, MS - Our firm provided services including master planning and full architectural services for St. Joseph Catholic Church including the design of a new sanctuary with 450 seats, support spaces, seven classrooms, a library, administrative areas, restrooms and a parking lot with a covered drop-off. This project was completed under the firm name Barranco Architecture prior to the Dale Partners merger. Paris-Yates Chapel / University of Mississippi / Oxford, MS - The Paris-Yates Chapel is an interdenominational chapel for the University of Mississippi. The centerpiece of this project is an 85-foot tower housing a 36-bell carillon. The tower is flanked on one side by the sanctuary and on the other by meditation rooms arranged around an outdoor cloister space. The sanctuary seats 250 people. In 2006, we upgraded the railing in front of the organ to screen the organist. In 2008, we added a memorial garden to the chapel grounds to honor students and faculty who have perished while attending the university. 2001 Mississippi Chapter ABC Award of Merit; 2002 Mississippi Chapter AIA Honor Award; Full architectural services; Construction cost: $3.5 Million; 11,064 SF; Completion date: 1999.
Bologna Performing Arts
Bologna Performing Arts Center / Delta State University / Cleveland, MS - The performing arts theatre features a full working stage, orchestra lift, 1,200-seat auditorium and a separate 150-seat recital hall. The brick and block building features precast stone accents and banding, and the brick utilized was selected to match the campus standard. A special feature of the Bologna theatre is the ornamental sculptural entry element. 1997 AIA/Mississippi Honor Award Citation; Full architectural services; Construction cost: $8.3 Million; 43,800 SF; Completion date: 1994; Joint Venture with Eley Guild Hardy Architects.
Fine Arts Facility
Fine Arts Facility Renovations & Additions / Alcorn State University / Lorman, MS - Renovations and additions to the existing Fine Arts Facility at the Lorman campus of Alcorn State University. The additions include a large rehearsal room accommodating anywhere from 80 to 250 people, several storage / workrooms and office spaces. Renovations include updated restroom facilities, an upgrade to all existing lighting / ceiling systems and a new mechanical system. Full architectural services; Construction cost: $6.1 Million; 28,242 SF – Existing; 9,789 SF – New; Completion date: 2009.
Masters of Business Administration Building / Alcorn State University / Natchez, MS - Design of a new facility to house the university’s new Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program. This facility provides appropriate instructional, office and support space that enables the ASU School of Business to offer an accredited graduate degree. The project provides academic and support space, including large lecture and consolidated library space, for the existing degree programs offered by the ASU School of Nursing. The building includes a 300-seat lecture hall, four tiered classrooms, media center, student lounge, study facilities, faculty office spaces and an executive conference center. The International Center
The International Center / University of Southern Mississippi / Hattiesburg, MS - Design of a new, five-story building for the English Language Institute, International Programs, International Student Affairs, Honors College, Geography and Continuing Education curriculum. A new food service concept is located strategically on the ground floor with access from the lobby and exterior courtyard. The facility shares common spaces on the first floor with a multipurpose lecture hall and a mailroom facility. Full architectural services; Construction cost: $6.9 Million; 46,944 SF; Completion date: 2005.
Liberal Arts Building
Dollye E. Robinson Liberal Arts Building / Jackson State University / Jackson, MS - This new facility for the School of Liberal Arts provides office space for the Dean of Liberal Arts, Center for Urban Affairs, English/Modern Languages, Art, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology and Psychology and also new laboratories. This project is characterized largely as an office and classroom building for traditional lecture liberal arts disciplines. 2002 AIA/Mississippi Honor Award Citation; Full architectural services; Construction cost: $15.3 Million; 116,783 SF; Completion date: 2001; Joint venture with Eley Guild Hardy Architects.
Performing Arts Center
Gertrude Castellow Ford Center for the Performing Arts / University of Mississippi / Oxford, MS - This project consists of a large multi-event all-campus civic theatre / support space focusing on guest performances and large-scale productions staged by the Theatre Arts and Music Departments. Also included in the project was the new home for Theatre Arts and Dance, which includes space for performance, rehearsal, production and instruction. The Music Department is located on the site of the existing Education Department. Centre for A & L
Centre for The Arts and Leadership / Jackson Preparatory School - Jackson MS. Our firm provided full architectural services for the new 37,386 SF building on the north side of the existing auditorium at Jackson Preparatory School. The new facility has a 1,000-seat performing arts theatre including a full working stage with dressing rooms and restrooms. Other spaces in the new building include a gallery, lobby, concessions and restrooms. The project also included the renovation of the school’s existing auditorium into a smaller lecture venue with remaining space converted into a bookstore and offices. The existing lobby received new finishes, and a new canopy was constructed to better define the entrance to the building along with adding masonry to the exterior walls that face the school’s main courtyard.
