Why you chose architecture: My grandfather was an architect in Vicksburg, MS, and I became interested at a very young age in his many hand-drawn renderings and designs.
Random fun fact about yourself: My wife and I are both architects, and we always agree with what she says.
Favorite tech gadget: Smart phone
Favorite quotes: “Architecture is HARD,” and “I don’t know why people hire architects and then tell them what to do.”
First job: McDonalds. I came home smelling like pickles every night.
Favorite childhood memory: Building “forts” in the woods with my friends. Some included multilevel tree-forts with bridges.
Favorite meal: Pizza
Favorite project: The design of a former employer’s home back in 2005.
What got you through architecture school: My wife, classmates and willingness to forego sleep for 5 years
What’s on your ipod: Louis CK to keep things light and Thomas Sowell for the more serious side.
What you like about DPA: The constant challenge.
Dream project: Design and build my own residence from site selection to finish, and still have some change in my pockets and my sanity afterwards.
What you would do if you weren’t an architect: Anything else would be easy. Movie critic, accountant, astronaut, rocket scientist, neurosurgeon. I just like the challenge of architecture.
Hobbies: Watching movies. Reading. Wood working. Spending time with my family.
