Mississippi State Department of Health Office Building / Jackson, MS - Design of a new, four-story office building for the Mississippi Department of Health. The exterior consisted of alternating bands of glass, brick and precast concrete with the building situated around a newly-created central courtyard. At the entry level, a long corridor runs south to north exposing the courtyard and intersecting the connector. On each interior floor, office areas surround a central core of elevators, restrooms, stairs and service rooms. A covered walkway connects the building to two existing buildings and the parking garage. Construction cost: $15.5 Million; 77,225 SF; Completion date: 1999.
